This is a short video showing you one way to use a shampoo bar. The other way is to just lather it up in your hands like soap and rub hands through your hair. The way shown in the video is ideal for longer hair.
This video is demonstrating a way to use your solid conditioner bar. Ideally you just need to condition the ends of your hair as the ends dry quicker than the roots. You can rub the conditioner bar over your hair also, as the video shows. Note that you do not get a lather like you do with the shampoo bar but it conditions your hair beautifully :)
Since our hand crafted soap has no chemical preservatives, it deserves a little bit of attention to keep it happy and prolong its life.
All of our soap has a high percentage of natural glycerine which is great for your skin as its incredibly moisturising but it also attracts water so its really important to keep it somewhere dry.
When you are not using it its best to keep it out of water on a well drained surface so that it completely dries between uses. Use a soap dish (wooden dishes with open slats are perfect) or you could even be a bit creative and use a few pebbles from the garden.
This will help make it last so you can get the most from your soap and enjoy feeling naturally fresh and fragrant for as long as possible!
Please always make sure you have rinsed your hair thoroughly after shampooing.
1. Jump in the shower, or climb into a warm bath... and get your hair wet.
2. Stroke the solid shampoo down your hair a few times to lather it up, or rub the bar between your hands to create a lather.
3. Gently massage it into the scalp and hair, as you would with a liquid shampoo.
4. Rinse out and set your bar aside to air dry, ready for its next use.
5. If your hair deserves a little more love, use the conditioner bar.
6. For the conditioner bar, follow the same instructions as above. Keep in mind that you don't get a lather from the conditioner bar.
Having greasy hair may be from using a commercial shampoo. Commercial detergent shampoo will have stripped your hair of its natural oils, your scalp would then have produced more oil to compensate for this. Therefore it may take a week or more for your scalp to rebalance its oil production, during this period you hair may feel greasy or heavy.
There is also the problem of product build up from commercial shampoo's and conditioners which often contain waxes, synthetic silicones, and silica that coat your hair, to make it "feel" nice, but leave a residue in your hair.
You can help remove this build up by rinsing you hair with 2 tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in a cup of warm water.
Also the water you are washing your hair with may be causing problems. Have you tried the apple cider vinegar rinse?
You may need to use a stronger solution than the one suggested above.
Another trick if you live in a hard water area is to add a tablespoon of baking soda to a pint of warm water. Use this solution to wet hair before shampooing. It can help the shampoo bar lather better and thus rinse out more thoroughly.

We've had a lot of customers asking about Denttabs Toothpaste Tablets. We are looking into it as we think this is a brilliant idea!
This is something we are also looking into as they would obviously go with the denttabs.
This is something we've been trying to figure out for a while. To work out which type would be best e.g. stone, stick or powder.
Out of all these bottles, only the red ones will get recycled - Thats only 9%! The rest will end up in our oceans, killing our sea life and spoiling our coastlines. Only we can make changes to help. Do what you can to reduce the amount of plastic you use.
